Some of the major questions we discussed were 1. the impact that stigmatization and racialization have upon the articulation and reception of political claims 2. the strengths and weaknesses of Beltran’s choice of Hannah Arendt to analyze the 2006 marches and 3. how helpful notions of ‘performance’ and ‘performativity’ are to the task of theorizing public identities and actions.
